The Challenge: Finding Hotels Outside Major Cities
Every travel agency knows the scenario: a client doesn’t want Munich, Vienna, or Hamburg — they want the Black Forest, the Wachau valley, the Tuscan coast, or the German Baltic Sea. Until now, searching for accommodation in these areas was cumbersome in most booking systems. You had to try individual towns and villages one by one, because hotels were often mapped only to small municipalities — not the touristic regions that customers actually ask for.
We’ve changed that.
What We Did: A Complete Remapping of Our Hotel Database
We’ve fundamentally rebuilt our entire database. Thousands of hotels and holiday apartments that were contracted but only assigned to individual villages have now been additionally mapped to touristic regions, beaches, islands, and larger areas — a process the industry calls “mapping.”
In practical terms: when you search for “Tuscany” on SETT Hub, you now get not only hotels in Florence, but also the charming agriturismo in Chianti, the boutique hotel in San Gimignano, and the seaside apartment near Grosseto. When you search for “Baltic Sea,” you’ll find hotels from Kühlungsborn to Binz to Timmendorfer Strand — in a single query.
How the Region Search Works
The new search function is straightforward. In the SETT Hub booking system, you enter the name of a touristic region — and the system shows you all available properties in that area. You can search at different levels:
Enter a region
Tuscany, Wachau, Black Forest, Baltic Coast — or any other touristic region.
Filter results
Hotels, apartments, star rating, price — as usual, but now across the entire region.
Book directly
Real-time availability and pricing. From result to booking in just a few clicks.
Particularly valuable: the search also works at a higher level. You can search an entire federal state — such as “Bavaria” — if there’s a trade fair taking place and you need to check what’s still available in the wider area. This saves enormous amounts of time and opens possibilities that simply weren’t feasible before.
What You Can Now Find
Rolling hills, vineyards, agriturismo properties, coastal hotels — from Florence to Maremma, all in a single query.
The Danube valley between Melk and Krems — wine taverns, boutique hotels, and guesthouses in the heart of a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
From Timmendorfer Strand to Warnemünde to Binz on Rügen — beach hotels, holiday apartments, and wellness resorts along the German coast.
Hiking hotels, wellness resorts, and traditional guesthouses — from Baden-Baden to the Feldberg, an entire holiday region at a glance.
Why This Matters for Travel Agencies
Clients think in regions, not postcodes. When someone says “I want to go to the Amalfi Coast” or “We’re looking for something in the Allgäu,” they expect their travel agency to deliver exactly that — quickly and with a solid selection. With the new region search in SETT Hub, that’s now possible.
“The region search isn’t just a technical update. It fundamentally changes how our partners can handle client requests — faster, more precise, and with a range of options that simply wasn’t possible in a single search before.”
Whether you need to check availability across an entire region for a group trip, offer alternatives in a specific area to an individual client, or get a hotel overview across a whole federal state during a trade fair — the region search turns time-consuming research into a matter of seconds.
Try It Yourself
We invite every one of our partners to actively test the new region search. Enter touristic regions, experiment with higher-level areas and federal states, and discover how much easier it has become to serve client requests precisely and comprehensively. In Germany alone, over 20,000 additional hotels and holiday apartments are now at your fingertips — and we’re continuously expanding the mapping.
